Worship Director/Minister/Pastor

Goshen Baptist Church, West Chester, Pennsylvania

The Worship Director/Minister/Pastor is a member of the professional staff of the church.  The worship responsibilities are part-time, up to 20 hours per week.  Goshen is open to considering full-time candidates with incremental administrative and/or pastoral responsibilities depending on the gifting and experience of the candidate. The role is responsible to plan, organize, lead, and oversee ministries in the areas of worship and music.

Accountability to the church is through the Elders and is implemented under the direction of the Senior Pastor.  This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and coordinates closely with all ministry staff and other relevant ministries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, coordinate and implement the worship and music elements of regular and other occasional worship services.  While serving as the primary leader in Goshen worship services, a key objective is also to develop and equip lay leaders, and to build up and expand worship and music teams, and tech teams.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing the worship and music elements for Goshen’s youth ministry events (e.g., Waypoint and VBS).  Support other ministry activities as directed by the Senior Pastor.
  • Recruit, train, supervise volunteer leaders to serve in all related areas of ministry.
  • Submit annual goals and objectives for consideration in one’s performance review by the Senior Pastor.
  • Additional responsibilities will be considered if a candidate is interested in full-time employment

Spiritual Prerequisites:

  • The candidate must have deeply-rooted doctrinal beliefs and ministry values that are consistent with those of Goshen Baptist Church as stated in the Church’s Statement of Faith and Philosophy of Worship and Music (access on this page).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Has experience in and senses a clear calling from God into ministry and to Goshen
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong musical skills (vocal and a primary instrument)
  • Relevant music and leadership experience
  • Team-oriented
  • Has demonstrated strong administrative, team-building, organizational, interpersonal, and professional skills
