Thanks Goshen family for stocking the Food Pantry so bountifully these past couple of weeks.  About 20 of us have loved meeting new friends from the community and hearing their stories during the two free Food Pantries we’ve hosted.  We’ve been able to assist almost 50 families in these tough times.  Here is a sampling of our new friends and their stories:

  • a woman who worked in a nursing home; had to quit her job so that her husband, with fragile health, wouldn’t get the coronavirus
  • 7 women from a nonprofit residential facility for single moms were helped
  • a brother from West Africa
  • a single mom with three children, one with health conditions
  • a mother and daughter from south Philly; many stores closed due to vandalism and rioting this week
  • an Uber driver with a passenger and her child; when driving by, the passenger commented on her need for food; the Uber driver dropped the passenger off at home, came back to Goshen, got food from the Pantry and brought it back to the woman.
  • a mother with two children who lost a lot of food during the power outage

We’re planning to host another Food Pantry on Saturday, June 20.  The following items are particularly needed and can be dropped off in the bins outside of the FLC entrance:

  • Pasta and spaghetti sauce
  • Canned tuna and chicken
  • Juices
  • Cereals
  • Soaps
  • Toothpaste
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly/Jam
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
