Friends,

As we step into the new year, let's come before the Lord in prayer for our church--for the church family, our leaders, our ministries, and our impact in the local community and beyond.  Below is a daily prayer guide for January 2022.  "Let us pray."

Jesus says, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7).

  1. Praise God for the gift of 2022.  Praise Him that he will love you, guide you, and strengthen you for each day of the year.  Praise him for the opportunities and the challenges he has prepared for you in 2022 (Psalm 139:16; Rom 11:33-36).
  2. Pray for our Elders, that they’d remain above reproach, kept from temptation, complacency, and idols.  Pray that they’d be vigilant to spend time daily in God’s Word and in prayer (Peter Nelson, Patrick O’Leary, Darrel Tedrow, Dan Steinfield, Pete Manni, Russ Nixon, Paul Yeung) (1 Tim 3:1-7; Eph 4:11-12).
  3. Pray for Pastor Peter, that his preaching would be biblically faithful and Holy Spirit infused (Col 1:9-10; 2 Tim 2:15), and that he’d be refreshed through experiencing and sharing the joy of the Lord (Phil 4:4-7).
  4. Pray for Pastor Pete, that his heart would remain steadfast and fully devoted to the Lord Jesus.  Pray that our worship would be filled with songs that teach us biblically to confess, lament, give thanks, and praise (2 Thess 2:16-17; Psalm 100).
  5. Pray for DJ Cronrath, that he’d stay refreshed for the work of student ministry by resting daily in the Lord’s presence.  That he would abide deeply in Jesus (John 15:5, Eph 3:14-15).
  6. Pray for Lori Herson, that she’d stay refreshed for the work of children’s ministry by resting daily in the Lord’s presence.  That she would abide deeply in Jesus (John 15:5, Eph 3:14-15).
  7. Pray for Jen Duguid, that she would stay refreshed for the work of ministry by resting daily in the Lord’s presence.  That she would abide deeply in Jesus (John 15:5, Eph 3:14-15).
  8. Pray for office/custodial staff, Tara Mummert, Denise Parshall, Nate Koechig, and Jason Grothmann—that they’d be built up in Christ and flourish in his service (2 Cor 9:8; Heb 13:20-21).
  9. Pray for our Deacons and Deaconesses and church officers, that they’d joyfully serve the body with the gifts God has given them, working in the strength God supplies (1 Tim 3:8-13).
  10. Pray for the Goshen family, that we’d experience deep unity amidst diversity—loving those with whom we have nothing in common but the gospel (1 Cor 10:17, Gal 3:28, Eph 2:19).
  11. Pray that transparent, meaningful, loving relationships would be the norm at Goshen, and that remaining anonymous would be strange (1 Peter 1:22, 1 John 4:11).
  12. Pray that disagreements and misunderstandings would be dealt with promptly, with all humility, under the direction of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 13:4-7; 16:14).
  13. Pray for our children, that they’d be protected from evil and experience deep joy and delight as part of our church family, putting their hope in God (Psalm 78:7-8).
  14. Pray for our teenagers, that they would be anchored in the truths of Scripture and that they would feel deeply loved and spiritually challenged by the Goshen family (1 Tim 4:12).
  15. Pray for our young adults, that they’d grow into spiritual leadership and that the Goshen family would be blessed by their zeal for God & his kingdom (1 John 2:12-14; Acts 2:17).
  16. Pray for the men of Goshen, that they’d grow in God’s Word, lead and serve their families with humility and integrity, and develop honest, supportive relationships with each other.
  17. Pray for the women of Goshen, that they’d grow in God’s truth, lead and serve their families with strength and grace, & develop honest, supportive relationships with each other.
  18. Pray for our seniors, that they’d find deep joy in Christ, his work, & his people.  Pray also that they’d experience fruitful ways to serve & use their gifts (2 Cor 4:16-17; 2 Thess 3:16).
  19. Pray for all—that a hunger for God’s Word would grow and spread within our fellowship (Psalm 119:103).
  20. Pray for all—that a longing to be near God in prayer would grow and spread among us (James 4:7-8).
  21. Pray for new small groups to be formed in 2022, and for existing groups as well, to grow deep in mutual love, care, and encouragement (Gal 6:2; Heb 3:12-13).
  22. Pray that we’d express comfort to the afflicted, with grace and tenderness (2 Cor. 1: 3-4), speaking the truth in love.
  23. Pray that we would grow in being distinct from the world, both in love and in holiness (Phil 2:12-13; Rom 12:2).
  24. Pray that we would all share the gospel more readily this year, and that God would give us the joy of seeing friends and family come to faith in Christ (I Peter 3: 15).
  25. Pray that we’d be prepared for persecution, remembering to love, not curse, our persecutors (I Peter 4:19; 2 Tim. 3:12).
  26. Pray that our giving would be faithful as well as joyful, generous, and sacrificial (2 Cor 8:1-15; 9:6-8)
  27. Pray for our Preschool.  Pray that relationships among the staff would continue to be loving and supportive.  Pray that the children who attend would be impacted for life, and that unbelieving parents would be drawn to faith (Col 3:12-17).
  28. Pray for our Awana ministry.  Pray that leaders would be led by God’s Spirit, and that children and their parents would be impacted by the gospel of Jesus.
  29. Pray for our various outreach ministries, e.g., VBS, Mom-2-Mom, Waypoint, Trunk-or-Treat, Upward, Awana—plus the sharing of our faith with family, friends, etc. (Matt 9:37-38).
  30. Pray for missionaries we support locally and nationally—to have wisdom and courage for sharing the gospel and building up disciples of Jesus.  Pray that God would use them to lead many people to trust in Christ for salvation (Eph 2:8-9).
  31. Pray for missionaries we support all over the world—to have wisdom and courage for sharing the gospel, discipling new believers, and establishing churches.  Pray that God would use them to reach “unseen” peoples.  Give thanks that the gospel will be proclaimed to all people groups! (Matt 24:14).
