"Right Here, Right Now:  Missions Begins Where You Are." That's our theme for the 2021 Fall Focus on Missions here at GBC.

God's heart for the world fuels the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to make disciples among all the people groups on earth, and that charge is not for someday, but right now; and not for somewhere, but right here.  For the church of Jesus Christ, missions begins where we are--right here, right now.  And our mission initiatives will involve sharing the truth of the Gospel and expressing the compassion of Christ to people right under our noses (see Luke 10:33), around our region, in our country, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).

Missions Sundays:

  • October 24:  Mark from Interserve USA will be preaching at 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. on "Our Great Missionary God" (John 4); he will also be speaking at 10:00 a.m. in our combined adult Sunday School session, sharing stories of how God is working in great ways in many hard places.
  • October 31:  Rick James from Cru will be preaching at 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. on "A Warm Welcome from the Faculty of Futility State" (Ephesians 4:17-20).

Special Missions Offering:

  • Our missionaries, Gene & Linda Wilson, who serve with ReachGlobal (the world missions arm of the Evangelical Free Church of America), have shared with us a wonderful opportunity to bring the Word of God into the language of non-literate, unreached people groups:  "Ending Scripture Poverty." Specifically, with our Special Missions Offering this year we’ll sponsor the audio recording of Scripture in the language of a non-literate tribe in East Africa.  Funds will provide equipment, training of national believers, recording, and discipling. $5,200 covers the costs for the complete project for one language group.  If the Lord prompts you to give an over-and-above gift, make contributions payable to “Goshen Baptist Church” and designate them for “Special Missions Offering” (deadline is Nov. 28).
