We continued our journey through the Holy Land today with a visit to CAPERNAUM, in Galilee, which was the center of Jesus’ early ministry. We talked about the many that were healed by Jesus and shared the story of the paralytic healing and the faith of his friends that were determined to get him to Jesus by removing the roof and lowering him before Jesus.  We had a special time of prayer and anointing for healing for several members of our group.

Our next stop was at the MOUNT OF BEATITUDES (Sermon on the Mount) where we were able to see a fantastic panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee and ponder the messages that were shared by Christ.

TABGHA (Miracle of Loaves and Fishes) was another one of our stops.  The name stands for “place of the seven springs” and is the traditional site of the feeding of the five thousand.

We also visited the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter with the MENSA CHRISTI (where Jesus served breakfast to his disciples after the resurrection), The Mensa Christi means “table of Christ”.

After a traditional fish lunch, we continued to MAGDALA – the home town of Mary Magdalene.

Our last stop of the day was to MOUNT TABOR. The bus we had been using for the first part of our tour was not able to make the many curves and switchbacks that had to be navigated to get to the top of the mountain.  So we had to transfer to smaller vans.  We climbed almost 2000 feet to the top of the mountain that is known as the traditional location for Jesus’ transfiguration.

We ask that you continue praying for us as we learn more each day about the land and area where Jesus walked and talked.  Pray that we will leave each place with a deeper understanding and longing to be more Christ-like.

Not About Deserving

Not About Deserving
Being a Christian is not about what we deserve.  If it were, it would be terrifying.  The Bible and experience teach us that we’ve all shaken our fists at the Lord in stubborn rebellion (e.g., 1 ...

Upward I Look

Upward I Look
In 1863, Charitie Bancroft wrote the hymn, “Before the Throne of God Above.”  I love the way this song conveys assurance to the downcast believer—especially the call to “look up”: When Satan ...
