God - The Master Weaver

Dear Women of Goshen,

"...for He can view the pattern upon the upper side..."

I know the words of the poem, The Plan of the Master Weaver, very well.  Although it was written anonymously many years ago, it expresses my own heart so well.  The poem portrays a visual picture of God weaving the various colors and textures of threads He has for our lives.  It has particularly been an encouragement to me as I have struggled over the years to understand God's Good Hand and Sovereign Plan for my life.  Maybe it was as a 26 year old single woman, wondering what plan God had for me.  Did He even hear my prayers for a Godly husband?  Or maybe it was that heart sick day, before our first wedding anniversary, when I went into labor at 20 weeks and delivered our first child that died soon after birth.  Did God hear my cries?   Did He not want to give me the desires of my heart to be a mother?  These questions are part of my story - of my desire to find the meaning in the threads that God has used to make the tapestry of my life.

This year we are focusing on seeing the Tapestry of our lives from the view of God as the Master Weaver.  It seems only fitting that we approach our understanding of this aspect of God's character with three passages woven together to explain the Scriptural foundation of God's Sovereignty.

God's Hand has been on my life since before I was born!

God knit me together in my mother's womb.  I am in awe of God's purposeful hand in creating me.
Psalms 139: 13 - 15

Nothing is too hard for God

God not only has a good plan for me, but He has the awesome power to make it happen.  His creation is a testimony that reminds me that nothing is too hard for Him.
Jeremiah 32:17

God weaves all things together for good.

.

Can God really have a plan when my life is such a mess?
Maybe it's mistakes of my own doing or maybe it is the result of decisions beyond my control.  God can work good
through all things.
Romans 8:28

God had a purpose in the strands of thread that He wove into the Tapestry of my life and continues to have a purpose with each strand He weaves.  I trust that you too will see anew God as the Master Weaver.

Because of Him,

Dee
